Yellow Yellow!

As we slip into Fall, I've been dreaming of sweaters and scarves, pumpkin flavored everything, crisp mornings and warm color palettes. Yellow is finding it's way into my heart more and more as it surfaces in some of my work, and I'm totally embracing it. How can you look at this color and feel anything but pure, calm joy? Oh, and after seeing the brilliant use of yellow in Sarah's Contemporary Color via Apartment Therapy, I just might have to paint an entire room with that color.

In the quest to move away from my standard color palette, I knew as soon as I saw this
gorgeous image it would be a perfect color study to get me out of my warm palette
tendencies and into some cooler colors.

Here it is - the latest pattern sketch! I've been really attracted to playing with hexagons lately - while I love polka dots, I'm trying to get away from them because I feel they are a little overdone these days.

HAPPY HEART DAY

So, I have never ever really been one to get too into Valentine's Day. When I was a kid of course I loved picking out the little cards that I would hand out to classmates but as I got older that excitement died down. This year, I wanted to bring that excitement back. So I made these little cards, (which were really just an excuse for me to make colorful things, which is my favorite) and handed them out to my coworkers. They were a pleasant little surprise. Valentine's Day should be about celebrating all the love you have in your life, not just from a significant other. I hope you have lots of love, today and every day.
