How absolutely beautiful are these paintings by Kate Long Stevenson? Her brush strokes are so expressive and energetic, and let's not even get started on the fantastic use of color. The figures in her paintings evoke a sense of emergence from a murky mystical world. She exhibits a lot of variety in her choice of color palettes, so everything stays fresh and surprising. Go check out her work, and let me know what you think. I'd love to have one of these beauties hanging in my dining room.

Admiring / Nathalie Boutte
This paper art by Nathalie Boutte is so incredible isn't it? I can only imagine the hours of work it took to put these gorgeous confections together. It is always astonishing to see work that is clearly thought out and carefully constructed. Check out more of her work here.

DREAMY HOME
How awesome is this home?! I love all the colors of Isabelle Tuchband's house and studio. Wouldn't you love to put on some great music and paint all day inside all those windows and bright light? I love all the colors she uses to tie her home together, it's so inviting and enticing.

ADMIRING / KITTY SABATIER
Kitty Sabatier's work conjures up a lot of different reactions - the expressive marks and the
murky inky goodness adds a bit of mystery and they become a little world of rorschach tests.
I'm not always drawn to this kind of work, but I found myself getting lost in all of these images.

WAY UP THERE
Whoa. Check out these gorgeous images by Eric Cahan. The rich colors can transport
you into a state of meditation. I found myself totally lost in the colors and their many
variations. My favorites are the ones where he includes just a bit of land or cloudiness.
Be sure to go to his website, there are tons more to lust over.

COME TOGETHER
Aren't these collages rad?? When I was in high school, I was totally obsessed with making them. I would collage all my binders, and even made one for the inside of my locker (that one took a while). Some people looked at me like I was crazy (and I was, a little) and some would compliment, but either way they often started a conversation. That is the thing that makes art in any form so great. And now looking
back, they're a great way to spark your imagination, you can put images together that don't have obvious connections and give them a whole new meaning. There is always potential for something unexpected to emerge. Now I've got all kinds of ideas for new projects!

Illustration Envy
I'm having a love affair slash obsession with illustration of all types these days. It didn't help that I spent most of my weekend at the Renegade Handmade Fair this weekend - there were so many delectable prints to choose from! I ended up grabbing a bunch of business cards so I can buy later just to keep from blowing through my paycheck! These weren't from the fair, but they are illustrations that keep me dreamin' and smilin'. Happy Monday!

Banksy Costume
So I know we're nowhere near Halloween season, but I just wanted to share this amazing Banksy costume, which looks just like this piece he did. Take a look at the rest of his work if you haven't - it is truly brilliant and thought-provoking. I know he is a total enigma, but I would love to see his process while he's coming up with these concepts.
